Ways I Can Help

2013 Annual Fund

For 56 years Stephens Memorial Hospital and friends like you have championed the need for quality healthcare in western Maine.  From its humble beginnings to our current facility the staff at Stephens Memorial Hospital has been able to provide exceptional medical care because of the commitment of our staff and the generous financial support from our community.

Donations to Stephens Memorial Hospital from generous community members like you over the past several years has allowed us to purchase new ultrasound imaging technology, digital mammography, sophisticated cardiac monitors for our Emergency Room and implement a cancer patient navigator program. Community support has also allowed us to participate in the Maine Medical Center/Tufts Medical School program which we believe will bring new physicians to Maine.  These have been important investments in delivering quality care to our patients.

Dr. Alyssa Paetau We cannot remain static in our quest to provide quality care. Our need to invest in technology to recruit and retain the best physicians to Norway and enhance healthcare outcomes is critical.  Our Annual Fund campaign for 2013 is designated for the purchase of a laparoscopic tower and supporting equipment for our surgeons in the Operating Room.

Each year our physicians perform thousands of surgical procedures to our patients. Surgical techniques have come a long way over the years through advancements in technology.  The laparoscopic equipment allows surgeons to perform many surgical procedures with very small incisions.  Since laparoscopic surgery is less invasive for the patient, it reduces time spent in the hospital and usually allows the patient to return to their normal routine more quickly.

We rely on the generous support of important friends like you to meet the hospital’s ongoing needs. Contributions to our Annual Fund are vital in ensuring that new technology and programs are funded.  We know that you deserve and expect quality healthcare services, and we continue to work hard to deliver it.

I hope I can count on you to consider a generous investment in your local community’s healthcare by supporting Stephens Memorial Hospital’s 2013 Annual Fund campaign.  Your support is important and does make a difference. Thank you.
