As a teaching hospital, part of our mission here at Maine Medical Center is to educate future physicians. We offer residencies and fellowships for physicians and have recently partnered with Tufts University in Boston to create the Maine Medical Center/Tufts University School of Medicine, an innovative model of education for the state of Maine.
Medical Education Leadership
The Master of Science in Medical Education Leadership (MMEL) is a joint project between the UNECOM and MMC. The two-year, web-based program prepares medical and health professionals to grow as educators and leaders in academic settings. Applications are being accepted for classes starting January 2008.
Maine Medical Center Research Institute - Cooperative Ph.D. Program
The Maine Medical Center Research Institute participates in three cooperative Ph.D. programs; Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Interdisciplinary Program in Molecular Genetics and Cell Biology, and Functional Genomics. In cooperation with the University of Maine, Orono, and the Jackson Laboratory, these programs have been established to provide rigorous basic research training in interdisciplinary areas.
Maine Medical Center Research Institute - Summer Internships
During the summer months, MMCRI provides college and pre-college students with an opportunity to receive an educational experience in biomedical science through the MMCRI Summer Student Research Program (SSRP).
