Maine Medical Center participates in the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) using the ERAS. In addition to the completed application, we require 1) a transcript of your grades 2) NBME scores 3) a dean's letter and 4) three letters of recommendation.
If an interview is granted, you will receive an email requesting that you contact the department to schedule the interview.
Interviews are scheduled from mid-October through the beginning of January. Candidates will be able to participate in pre-interview day dinners with residents and have the opportunity to meet the program director and several key faculty on the day of the interview.
The interview day typically begins at 7:00 am with a sight-seeing trip through Portland, followed by hospital and facility tours, interviews and lunch with residents. The interview day ends in the early afternoon.

| What we are looking for in a candidate |
|
As with most programs, we are looking for bright, academically driven individuals who have shown success both in the classroom and on their medical school rotations. But along with scholastic prowess, we seek individuals who demonstrate attributes of leadership, teamwork, excellent interpersonal skills and appreciation for every member of the healthcare team.
We pride ourselves in recruiting outstanding residents who are able to play an integral role in the patient care model both in the OR and out.
